3 Tips To Get More Work Done At Home

March 24th, 2009

Most people want to start their own business online, because they
want to work at home and be their own boss. When they finally
reach that gold they often don’t get much work done. It is very
easy to do something else - more funny stuff - when you don’t
have a boss to tell you what to do and when.

You will also get interrupted all the time by your telephone,
text messages and emails. You will be interrupted by family and
friends that drops in… and your kids (if you have some) will want
to play with you, because now daddy is home all day. There’s no
harm in that, but you just ain’t gonna get much work done like that.

When you get interrupted  you loose focus and it takes at least
20 minutes to get back to what you were doing. It is also important
to focus on one thing at the time when you work… multitasking is
NOT very effective.

Here’s three things you can do to work more effectively.:

1. Make a plan for your day and scedule the time for work and turn of
all email alerts, your telephone and textmessages. Theese are your
worst enemies when you need to focus. Tell your family and friends
kindly that you don’t want to be disturbed when you are working…
they will understand.
Keep your files organised on your computer… that will save you a
lot time and scedule time for studying and learning.

2. Scedule the time for the ‘interruptions’ and multitasking - that will
be the  time for phonecalls, messages, research. surfing the net etc.
Make that fx, one hour two times a day. Tell everyone that this is the
best time to call you.

3. Don’t spend ALL your time in your office or behind your computer. Take
10-15 minutes every hour or two away from your work and take at least
two days every week completely free from it. You need to reload and
get new energy.

If you follow theese three advices I guarantee you will get more work
done, more effective and you’ll achieve better results.
